Soils:
Gro-Max: formulated for optimal root growth with a blend of compost, aged bark, peat, sand and topsoil. It is balanced for pH, water holding capacity and air porosity.
Arnts Triple Mix Supreme: An excellent blend of sandy loam, aged mushroom compost, peatloam and composted pine mulch fines. A medium density soil used primarily for gardens. Not recommended for spreading on lawns.
Triple Mix: A medium density soil used primarily for gardens. Not recommended for spreading on lawns. This Triple Mix is comparable to the Triple Mix being sold by other garden/soil companies.
Topdressing: A fine blend of sandy loam, compost and aged bark fines used for topdressing lawns and ammending existing gardens. When spread on your lawn, a depth between 1/4 to 1/2" should be used.
Screened Topsoil: This material is used for grading and backfilling, as well as a 2" minimum base for sodding. It does not have any added nutrients.
Peatloam (Screened): Peatloam is an attractive dark black loam from peat bogs/ponds. It helps retain moisture and is used as an aesthetic topping for garden beds. It has a low pH level but does not add any growing value to existing soil.
Aged Mushroom Compost: Horse and chicken manure mixed with peatmoss that has been composted (aged) with straw at local mushroom farms. Add this material to existing garden beds as a natural fertilizer.
Premium Compost 1/4": Durham Preium Compost 1/4" is derived from leaf, yard waste and food waste. A high quality excellent alternative to peatmoss, compost is high in microbial activity.
CPM Mix Potting Soil: This potting mix contains CPM (fresh pine which has been composted for 1-2 years), giving it a rich, dark black colour. It has a low pH level and is high in organic matter.
Gro-Turf Premium Topdressing: This premium topdressing is formulated for maximal root growth with a blend of compost, aged bark, peat, sand and sandy loam. It is balanced for pH, water holding capacity and air porosity.
Unscreened Soil: Plain soil that has not been screened for debris; can be used to backfill larger areas.
Mulches:
Classic Cedar Mulch: Freshly ground White Cedar bark with a fibrous texture and a strong cedar aroma; golden brown in colour. It knits together to help conserve soil moisture and prevent weed growth.
Shredded Pine Mulch: Freshly ground pine bark with a uniform texture, pine aroma and reddish brown in colour. It has an acidic pH level which helps condition soil. Use this mulch to help conserve soil moisture and to prevent weed growth.
Enhanced Red Bark Mulch: A finely ground hardwood bark which has been colour enhanced with natural iron oxides to provide the bright red colour. This mulch has all the same benefits as Classic Cedar mulch.
Enhanced Black Bark Mulch: A finely ground hardwood bark which has been colour enhanced with natural iron oxides to provide the black colour. This mulch has all the same benefits as Classic Cedar mulch.
Hemlock Mulch: Freshly ground Hemlock bark with a fibrous texture. It has been composted for 1-2 years to give it its rich, dark, mohogany colour. This colour will not fade like dyed mulches and also takes longer to decompose. Provides soil moisture retention and weed control.
2” Woodchip Mulch: are recycled from ground up pallets and industrial packaging. It is processed to a uniform size suitable for pathways and garden beds. It is a low cost practical product for commercial use.
Red or Black Woodchip Mulch: A coloured hardwood mulch died with iron oxides, approximately 1-2" in size. Use as aesthetic alternative to shredded mulches.
Playground Mulch: Approximately 1” uniform size which has been created from White Cedar. Light brown (natural) in colour, similar to 2” Woodchips.
Composted Pine Mulch: Processed from fresh Pine and composted for 1-2 years, giving it a rich, dark black colour. It has a low pH level and is high in organic matter making it a great soil conditioner.
